Packing For College

What is provided in each bedroom, bathroom and suite area (the shared spaces - kitchen and/or living room):

  • Bedroom: Bed, desk, desk chair, dresser, wardrobe, cable TV outlet and bookshelf per person.
  • Living room area: Sofa, chair, end table, cable TV outlet and coffee table.
  • Kitchen: Four (4) bar stools, stove, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, waste basket and full sized refrigerator.
  • Bathroom: Shower rod, shower curtain, metal cube rack, towel bars (both in bathroom and sink area) and large mirror in front of sink area.
  • Shared Space within Campus View and within your suite:

    Washers and Dryers are located on the 2nd Floor of Campus View and will be $1.00 per load

    Telephone (actual) with unlimited local and long distance service (within the continental United States).

  • Wireless Internet will be provided; students will need to purchase a wireless card if they do not currently have one.

Note that the items below are merely suggestions of things to bring. This list has been compiled based on other's experience. Certainly your residential experience can be complete without some of the following items, so do not feel obligated to bring them if you choose not to.

Students should not bring the following items:

  • Pets (with the exception of fish in 20-gallon tanks or smaller).
  • Oil popcorn popper, hot plate, electric skillet, or anything with an exposed heating element;
  • Candles, incense, potpourri, mug warmers, wax melters or anything else to light or burn;
  • Halogen lamp (unless they have the Underwriters Laboratories approved sticker), sun lamp, space heater, or electric blanket;
  • Fastener hardware (e.g. nails or screws), outlet adapters, dartboard, contact paper, wallpaper, or glow-in-the-dark stars;
  • Refrigerators larger than 5 cubic feet and use more than 1.5 amps of electrical current, water bed, or air conditioner; or
  • Weapons or alcohol (Campus View residents are not permitted to have alcohol - even those of legal age).
  • Wireless routers and/or any exterior wireless device for computer.
