About the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor...

The University of Michigan is comprised of twelve colleges: College of Architecture and Urban planning; College of Engineering; College of Literature, Science, and the Arts; College of Pharmacy; Dental Hygiene Program; Kinesiology; School of Art & Design; University of Michigan Business School; School of Education; School of Music; School of Natural Resources and Environment; School of Nursing.  These colleges are discrete, that is, students apply to one of the colleges.

Pre-Dentistry students are free to choose a concentration (major) in the humanities, the sciences or social sciences.  It is recommended that students make satisfactory progress on prerequisite courses for their intended concentration before transferring to the University of Michigan.  Although it is possible to enter the School of Dentistry directly after two years of pre-professional study, the majority of successful candidates have completed an undergraduate degree.

Biology concentrators are encouraged to take introductory biology courses at the University of Michigan.

Points to consider:

  1. The DAT should be taken close to the time you are actually applying.  Scores are valid for five years, and you may only take the test three times.
  2.  Applicants without test scores will not be considered for an interview.
  3.  If you are unhappy with your results, you must wait 90 days before retaking the test.
  4.  We are unable to delay any application should an applicant decide to retake the DAT unless it is by our request.
