Transfer Information

Spring Arbor University 1. Complete the MACRAO Agreement using as many courses from your major or minor as possible. Only courses with 2.0 or higher will transfer. See the JCC website for transfer guidesheets for most majors.
2. For Elementary Education, take EDU 100*, EDU 221, SPH 231, ENG 254, MTH 210, MTH 211. Also, you must get at least a 2.5 in ENG 132.
3. For Secondary Education, take EDU 100*, EDU 221, SPH 231. Also you must get at least a 2.5 in ENG 132.
4. For Elementary Education, you will need either one major (English, History, Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education, Social Studies, Spanish, Special Education-Learning Disabilities) or two minors (English, History, Integrated Science, Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education, Social Studies, Spanish, Speech).
5. For Secondary Education, you will need one major (Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Music Education, Physical Education, Social Studies, Spanish, Special Education—Learning Disabilities, Visual Arts) and one minor (any from the above list except Social Studies; plus Health Education, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Speech.)
6. In addition to your certification and major/minors, you may also get endorsements in Early Childhood Education (ZA), and Physical Education.
7. A 2.50 cumulative grade point average is required for admission into the School of Education. A GPA of 2.60 or higher is required in each major and/or minor.
8. You may talk with the SAU advisor at any time in the process, the earlier the better. She will work out a four-year plan according to your major/minor. You will be given a check list of not only what to take at JCC, but what you will be taking at SAU. Remember, some classes are not offered every semester, so early planning is advised.
9. You will want to apply at SAU about a year before you plan to attend. This enables you to get all of your application and financial aid paper work in order in plenty of time. Meet with the SAU advisor at JCC as soon as you know you want to transfer to SAU.
10. If you attend Spring Arbor University full-time, you will be eligible for SAC grants and scholarships. There is a special transfer scholarship for students with 3.5 GPA or higher and another one for students with 3.3 GPA or higher. Of course, you are also eligible for any state or federal financial aid for which you qualify. If you attend Spring Arbor University part-time, you are eligible for any state or federal financial aid for which you qualify.
