Student Classification

The following student definitions are used by JCC. Other schools, agencies, government organizations and financial aid sources may use different definitions.

FULL- TIME: Taking 12 or more credit hours
PART-TIME Taking fewer than 12 credit hours
OVERLOAD: Taking 19 or more credit hours-requires approval by the Dean of Students
FRESHMAN: A student who has completed 23 or fewer semester hours of credit
SOPHOMORE A student who has completed 24 or more semester hours of credit
