Why request a tutor?

Tutors help students understand assignments, prepare for tests, and develop the academic skills needed to be successful. Anyone is eligible to work with a tutor free of charge, however tutors are not a substitute for attending class. We require students who use our tutoring services to attend class regularly.

Free tutoring is available in a variety of formats to all enrolled JCC students.

  • Faculty in the Center help students with math, writing, study skills, career assessment, and learning assessments.
  • Certified tutors, peer tutors and study group leaders are available for many classes.

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

If your student has a documented disability, the Center may provide accommodations and support such as notetakers, textbooks on tape, quiet or extended test time, oral testing, sign language interpreters, assistive technology, taping of lectures or other reasonable accommodations as outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act. Each semester, students with disabilities are personally advised at the Center and assisted with registration.

Special funding

Students enrolled in occupational education programs who meet the eligibility criteria and the income guidelines, and who have completed a FAFSA application, may be eligible for assistance with tuition, books, uniforms, mileage and childcare.
