Decades of research in higher education reaffirms the vital importance of students’ making meaningful connections academically and socially while attending college. A student who is committed to academic success and who participates actively in campus life is more likely to persist to meet educational goals, is more likely to perform better academically, is more positive about their college experience and more likely to become an active alumni after graduation (Alexander Astin, Four Critical Year Revisited).
Jackson Community College understands the importance of a well-rounded student and has created this office to open up new learning opportunities for students.
