Cap & Gown
Your cap and gowns are available for purchase, now thru April 26, 2014, (if you have applied for graduation with the Student Services office) at the JC bookstore. The cost is $36.00 plus tax. Please contact the bookstore for current hours at 517.796.8440. You must have a cap and gown to participate in the commencement ceremony.
Commencement tickets must be presented to purchase cap & gowns at the bookstore to ensure you have the appropriate graduation application and information on file.
Students that have earned honors will be given complimentary honor cords at check in on the day of the Commencement Ceremony. If you are unable to participate in the ceremony but have earned the GPA represented by an honor cord, you may purchase the cord for $10.00 by contacting the Registrar at 517-796-8584. The eligibility and honor status will be based on your cumulative GPA as of the end of the Fall 2013 as follows:
|Cumulative GPA:||3.0 to 3.49 = Recognition||White Honor Cords|
|3.5 to 3.79 = Honors||Silver Honor Cords|
|3.8 to 4.0 = High Honors||Gold Honor Cords|
The final cumulative GPA for the Fall graduates will be reflected on your transcript and diploma. All credits earned are used to calculate cumulative GPA, not just credits that are used towards degree completion.
Phi Theta Kappa Members
If you are a member of Phi Theta Kappa and did not receive your graduation stole to wear over your regalia, then you must contact PTK faculty advisor Marta Petry at least one week prior to commencement at email@example.com (or 517.796.8530).
Note: graduation stoles will not be available on the night of the ceremony.
Each graduate/candidate will receive up to 4 tickets for guests to attend the ceremony. Tickets are available for pick-up March 24 through April 25, 2014 at all student services locations – Jackson Central Campus, Jackson North Campus, JC @ LISD Tech, and the Clyde LeTarte Center in Hillsdale. These tickets are required for seating until 1:30pm, so that all graduates have an equal opportunity to have representation at the ceremony. Guests with seating tickets need to be seated by 1:30 pm (doors to the Music Hall will open at 1:00 pm). All remaining seats will be open for additional guests at 1:30 pm. Ticket holders that arrive after 1:30 will be given the same consideration to the remaining available seating as those without tickets in Sheffer Music Hall. There may be more family and friends of graduates than available seats in the Sheffer Music Hall. Additional seating will be available in the Baughman Theatre, where the ceremony can be viewed on a large projection screen.
Bring your cap and gown and report to Sheffer Music Hall (Potter Center, second floor) by 12:30 p.m. on Commencement day for rehearsal. Doors open for guests with commencement tickets at 1:00 p.m. and open seating begins at 1:30 p.m. Congratulations on a milestone accomplishment! See you on April 26th.
