College Visits and Scholarship Opportunities

Colleges and Universities plan visits to Jackson Community College throughout the year.  This is a good time for JCC students to meet individually with four year college reps.  It is often helpful to bring along an unofficial copy of your JCC transcript when meeting with them.  Other information you may may want to request are application deadlines, transfer student scholarship opportunities, course equivalencies,  transfer guides and specific information on second tier admittance for programs such as teacher education, engineering, nursing and pharmacology.  Additional transfer information can be found here:

• University of MI at Ann Arbor - A series of programs for transfer students, especially non-traditional students.
• Explore Eastern -  April 5, 2008.  An opportunity for transfer students to visit EMU and submit application without normal application fee AND to be eligible to receive 6 credits free. 
• Michigan State University - College of Osteopathic Medicine Open House to be held at MSU on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 1:00-4:30.  Many activities are planned for future students and their families.   Click here to download brochure of activities: http://www.com.msu.edu/

• Western Michigan University  -  Transfer Scholarships range in awards from $1,000 to $6,000.  Apply to WMU and have official transcript sent prior to March 1, 2008 for consideration.  Applications available in Student Services and on WMU website.
• National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs - Scholarship opportunity for community college students pursuing a teaching certificate.  JCC is a NACCTEP Member.  Deadline is Friday, April 25, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. PDT
• Eastern Michigan University - Transfer Scholarships Students who begin their enrollment in the winter may complete a Winter Admit University Scholarship, available each February with a deadline of the last business day in April, for scholarships for the following fall.  Contact EMU financial aid office at 734.487.3442
• Eastern Michigan University - Register for and attend "Explore Eastern Day" on April 5, 2008 and submit an essay to be eligible to receive $7500.00 scholarship.
