GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER GUIDE

This is only a guide.  Please refer to the Spring Arbor University catalog for transfer admission requirements, specific course information and program requirements.  Because institutions may change course descriptions, numbers, or other designators without notice, the information in this transfer guide may not reflect the most recent information available.  Please consult with a Spring Arbor University admissions representative concerning questions about specific courses.  A student who satisfies the MACRAO Agreement at JCC (Must be completed before starting at SAU) will be accepted as having fulfilled the general education freshman and sophomore year requirements unless otherwise specified by a particular program (e.g. Teacher Education).  For any course to transfer, it must be numbered 100-299 and the grade earned must be "C" (2.0) or higher.  If a student does not fulfill MACRAO Agreement, the following courses are suggested:

1.  English -- 6 semester hours 

ENG 131, 132 (132 must have a 2.5 or better for teacher education) 

2.  Oral Communication - 3 semester hours

SPH 231, 234

3.  Physical Education -- 2 semester hours

HPF 160 AND 139, 156, or 161 to 185 

4.  Fine Arts

HUM 131  OR  ART 101, 103, 111 or 112 AND MUS 131 (Two semesters of musical ensemble may substitute for MUS 131)  

5.  Humanities (Literature) --

 

ONE COURSE FROM:

  • ENG 257

  • FRN 132, SPN 132, or GER 132 (the equivalent of two years of language study)

6.  Natural Science --

 

ONE LABORATORY SCIENCE FROM:

  • BIO 131, 151, 152, 155, or 220

  • CEM 131, or 141

  • GEL 160

  • NSC 131

  • PHY 131, 151, 231, or 251

ONE COURSE FROM:

  • MTH 131, 133, 134, 140, 210, 211, or 151 OR CIS 101

7.  Philosophy --
