COLLEGE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
Bachelor of Arts - Criminal Justice

·         This is the MSU general ed transfer guide:  http://admissions.msu.edu/transferguide/default.asp

·         Go to http://socialscience.msu.edu/degree/criminal_justice.html  for an overview of the available areas of study.

·         Go to http://www.cj.msu.edu/%7Eacademic/uplanguide.doc for the requirements of the bachelor's degree.

·         Students should contact the transfer school for the best time to transfer.  “CRJ” courses from JCC do not transfer as equivalent “CJ” credit to MSU.  Please read below.  If you complete "CRJ" courses at JCC you will need to petition to waive MSU "CJ" courses.

·         Currently, an overall GPA of 3.0 or above is expected for students wishing to transfer to MSU.  Limited enrollment majors may have higher overall GPA requirements

·         Students wanting to transfer to MSU should complete the Lower Level Integrative Studies courses (see below).

·         To be admitted to the University, all transfer students MUST have completed the mathematics, writing and U.S. History requirements prior to applying for admission.

·         When applying to MSU, GPAs will be recalculated including all courses, all attempts and all colleges.

·         An “I” (incomplete) grade is the same as 0.0 – some “D” grades will transfer if overall GPA is at least 2.0.

·         U.S. History course (see below) must be completed for the ENG 131, 132 to meet the writing requirement.

·         A maximum of 60 credit hours required for completion of the degree at MSU may be transferred from JCC.

"The present policy is that if a course transfers in as general CJ credit, but may have covered the course material of a required course, the student may request a waiver by collecting the syllabus, course materials (including quizzes/tests, and notes from these courses), and text that he or she may still have from the course, and contact the faculty who teach the course to request the waiver. The instructor will review and evaluate the materials and determine if a waiver will be granted. If the waiver is granted, the course is waived.
