*Completion of General
Education and Required courses will satisfy the MACRAO Agreement.
Student should contact
the College of
Health and Human Services,
Speech Pathology and Audiology department at
269.387.8045
at the beginning of the Freshman Year for information regarding the best time
to transfer.
·
Completion of
the bachelor’s degree does not qualify the student for any form of state
teaching certification or for employment as a speech-language pathologist in
any setting. A master’s degree in speech and language pathology or audiology
is needed to complete professional preparation.
·
Since the
courses for speech pathology and audiology course work are only offered once
during an academic year, and must be taken in sequential order, it is
strongly recommended that transfer students plan to begin course work at
WMU at the beginning of the sophomore year. Early application is important
for the student to begin the undergraduate program.
·
Transfer
students are strongly urged to periodically contact the Department of Speech
Pathology and Audiology advisor for programmatic updates.
·
Course work may
also be elected to partially fulfill the requirements of the minor in
elementary education if the student desires teacher certification.
A total
of 122 credits is required for completion of the degree. A maximum of
62 credit hours required for completion of the degree at Western
Michigan University may be transferred from JCC.
This is
only a guide. Please refer to the Western Michigan University catalog for
transfer admission requirements, specific course information, program
requirements, etc. For further information and advising, please contact
Western Michigan University, Admissions Office, (269) 387-2000.
