Student Veterans of America @ JC

Welcome to Student Veterans of America at Jackson College. There are no fees required to join – just the humility to accept help if they need it and/or the desire to help other veterans in need. All those who have served in the military, are serving in the military, and are the dependent or spouse of a veteran or active military member and those interested in the concerns of veterans may attend and join.

The organization’s mission, goals and purpose are to:

  • Advocate on behalf of student veterans in order to ensure academic success
  • Share information and resources pertinent to student veteran educational advancement
  • Provide setting for veteran students to get to know each other
  • Designed to emulate the camaraderie military personnel experienced while in service
  • Assist in any way to help brothers and sisters in arms realize their full potential academically, socially and in the workplace
  • Help returning veterans adjust to civilian and student life
  • Cooperate with veterans’ organizations around the state to advocate veterans’ issues
  • Social and informational organization
  • Non-political environment
  • Veterans, active duty personnel, reservists, National Guard, families and others can meet
  • Plan for a future Veterans Resource Center on campus
  • Link student veterans to local veteran services and organizations
  • Represent JC and veterans through community service and involvement
