Ted Christoff is a Jackson businessperson who gives back to his hometown community. He is a vice president at Christoff and Sons Floor Covering, Window Treatment and Carpet Cleaning, with his brother, Tom.
Christoff graduated from East Jackson High and then earned his Associate in Arts from Jackson Community College in 1990. “Higher education to me was important because I wanted to move on beyond high school. My parents had owned a floor covering store and I wanted to get training outside of our own business,” he said. “So I knew that going to college and getting a degree was going to help me carry on with my career.”
Christoff chose JCC for its value and because of the MACRAO transfer agreement, a specific set of courses guaranteed to transfer to most state universities in Michigan. He recalls great counselors who helped him find his best career fit, how to pay for college and how to balance college with life. He continued his studies at Ferris State University, earning his Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Upon graduation, he started work at Christoff and Sons, started by his late father in 1979. The business started in a small 1,200-foot building and built new in 1995. Christoff and Sons was named Small Business of the Year by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and has received numerous accolades.
Christoff has served on the East Jackson School Board, Jackson Commercial Contractors Association, Chamber of Commerce Vice President, and leadership positions with the Boy Scouts. He is active in his church, New Covenant Living Church. He and his wife, Pam, have three children: Brooke, Preston and Parker.
