Took over the company founded by his father. R. W. Mercer Co., in 1961. Serves as chief operating officer of the multi-state general contracting firm, which has grown from five employees to over 170 employees operating out of seven branches primarily serving a three-state territory in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
Served as past president of the national Petroleum Equipment Institute, and chairman of the Gilbarco Distributor Advisory Committee.
Appointed as a member of Governor Jennifer Granholm’s Renewable Fuels Commission and is also an active member of the Michigan Petroleum Association.
He has served the community as a past member of the Hanover-Horton Board of Education.
Served as co-chair of the Cascades Humane Society Building Fund.
Served as board member of the Jackson Enterprise Group.
Served as corporate ambassador of Michigan International Speedway.
Served as board member of the Country Club of Jackson.
Served as member of the Liberty Township Planning Commission.
Current secretary of the Mason State Bank Board.
Resides in Jackson with his wife, Marty, attorney-at-law, and has three children, Nikki Johnson, Andy Mercer and Jaimie Mercer, who also reside in the Jackson area.
Interests include golf, motorcycling and antique cars.
