Christopher Simpson’s distinguished record illustrates decades of committed service.

A Jackson High graduate, Simpson served in the U.S. Army and Michigan Army National Guard, deploying to Iraq in 2003. He attended Jackson College and graduated from Spring Arbor University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy, Police School of Staff and Command, and New Chief School and Executive Leaders. A decorated Jackson City Police officer for 26 years, Simpson served many assignments and rose to the rank of lieutenant. He currently serves as undersheriff of Jackson County, appointed in 2020.

Simpson has served in leadership roles for the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, Jackson Human Services Coordinating Alliance, Jackson YMCA, Jackson Community Foundation, Highfields, Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Jackson County NAACP, and the Jackson College Foundation. Jackson College recognized Simpson with the 2022 Dr. Ethelene Jones Crockett Distinguished Alumni Award.

Honored for his dedication to service, he’s received numerous military medals and citations, police honors, and community recognitions. He and his wife, Erica, have four children and one grandson.
