DESCRIPTION:Young musicians are invited to tune up their talents this summer at the 2026 Summer Band Camp\, designed for pre–high school–aged students. \nParticipants will enjoy playing exciting music\, strengthening their instrumental skills\, and building confidence in a supportive group setting\, taught by JC Director of Instrumental Activities\, Professor Dan Bickel. Our instructor will provide initial guidance to get you started\, then be available throughout the workshop to answer questions and assist as you work independently on your projects. Whether you’re new to ceramics or already enjoy working with clay\, this workshop is a fun way to celebrate Christmas in July while creating one-of-a-kind decorations that will bring joy to your home when the holiday season arrives. \nLevel of Experience: Beginner to Advanced. Students will receive initial instruction then focus on independent work. The instructor will be available to assist as needed\, but will encourage students to create on their own without step-by-step instruction. \nPlease wear appropriate clothing for working with art materials and an apron if you have one. Projects will be created on day 1. Before day 2\, our instructor will fire the project in our on-campus kiln. Day 2 students will complete the glaze process. DESCRIPTION:Planetary imaging\, also known as lucky imaging\, is a great way to share space with others. Help take amazing photos of the planets and share the process and results with the community. Keeping regular images of planets allows scientists to study the changes in the planet’s features over time; these include but are not limited to\, Saturn’s Ring orientation\, Jupiter’s Great Red Spot\, and the surface of Mars. While you will most likely want a computer to view and keep data for yourself\, no equipment is needed for this team. All the necessary equipment is provided by Jackson College.
