Jackson College will host the First Annual High School Invitational Choir Festival Sunday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center.
Choirs from Jackson High, Columbia Central High and Benzie County Central High, will perform, as well as Jackson College’s new choral group, Vocal Point. Each high school group will perform one or two pieces, and Vocal Point will sing several pieces. As a finale, the high school and college students will come together to perform a combined number “When Dreams Take Flight,” by Dilworth.
“We are excited to welcome these high school choirs to this event and to our facility,” said music instructor Dr. Richard Hintze, director of Vocal Point. New this year, Vocal Point is comprised of 20 Jackson College students. “We hope the community will enjoy an evening of great music, and the positive experience of seeing over 100 student musicians perform.”
Tickets are $5 for adults; students with identification are free.
