Meet Janise. Janise Suddeth chose Jackson College because she knew it would be a great place to start and offer a smooth transfer. With a helping hand from the TRIO Student Support Services program, her experience was top-notch. TRIO provides tutoring, academic advising, financial literacy workshops, campus visits and cultural activities for students.
“They (TRIO) were awesome – they definitely helped us toward success. They helped us with our classes and talked with teachers if there were any problems.”
Suddeth, of Jackson, worked while going to school. With a boost from scholarship funds, she was able work fewer hours and focus more time on her studies. The scholarship funds helped pay for classes and books. Janise graduated in May with her Associate in Arts and plans to apply to Michigan State University to study animal science. She hopes to someday work in a field relating to wildlife research.
“If you’re interested in starting off at a smaller college to get you prepared for public universities, Jackson College is a good place to start. The classes aren’t too big and you are able to communicate with your teachers and get to know them on a personal basis. Jackson College is a great place to start.”
