Meet Scott. Scott Weatherwax got a great start toward a four-year degree by starting at Jackson College. He worked on campus in Information Technology, and became involved with Professor Diana Agy with a Jackson District Library history project. He would have never guessed his level of involvement as a senior researcher with the history project.
“It was an honor to work by Professor (Diana) Agy’s side, and he wonderful Lynne Loftis. I learned so many things about the history of this area, and also about myself and my interests. I made numerous friends and got to do some things that I will remember for a long time.”
Scholarship assistance helped Weatherwax pay for books and ease some of the financial stress of college. He graduated from Jackson College with an Associate of Science. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Western Michigan University.
“My experience at Jackson College was extremely positive, useful and fun,” he said. “It’s a cheaper alternative to a four-year institution, with almost all the same courses offered. It’s a great option to complete general education courses, with smaller class sizes and more approachable faculty.”
