Be HealthWise with free vascular screenings Dec. 7

Jackson College invites community members to a free HealthWise Community Clinic Thursday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free vascular screenings will be available in Justin Whiting Hall, Room 118, the Simulation and Innovation Center (SIC).
Your vascular system sends blood throughout your body, bringing vital nutrients to where they need to go. A vascular screening checks to make sure your veins and arteries are working properly. Screenings are recommended for anyone at risk for vascular disease or who has a personal or family history of cardiac disease, heart attack or stroke, or Type 1 diabetes. Available screenings will include:
- Carotid Artery Stenosis
- Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)
Trained healthcare professionals perform all screenings. Clinics also provide an opportunity for college students to gain experience. Students will assist, under the supervision of a professional. Screenings will be free, but appointments are required.
