Front Porch Concert Series hits high note with summer line-up
May 17, 2017
Great music plays on this summer with the 2017 Front Porch Concert Series at Jackson College!
The 2017 season of Jackson College’s “Front Porch Series” Concerts this summer will feature the Capital City Brass Band on June 8, Trombonefest on June 18, and will conclude with the Jackson Community Concert Band Pre-July Fourth Concert on June 27. All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. outside the Potter Center at Jackson College.
- The Capital City Brass Band includes members from all over mid-Michigan, and always amaze with their dexterity and variety. This is an all-volunteer brass and percussion ensemble inspired by the traditional British-style brass band model.
- This year’s Trombonefest will feature pieces by Santana, The Ides of March, Chicago, and plenty of classic literature. Trombone players from across the area gather for this one-of-a-kind musical event!
- The Community Concert Band will perform songs designed to be played outdoors. Selections include “The William Tell Overture” (Rossini), “At a Dixieland Funeral” (Sparke) featuring a special appearance by the Jackson French Quarter Dixieland Band, “Blue Shades” (Ticheli), “A Scott Joplin Retrospective,” “Ferris Wheel” (Nitsch), “Inchon” (Robert W. Smith), and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” (Sousa).
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy these fun musical events! In case of inclement weather, concerts will move indoors.
