Jackson College marketing department nets two national awards

Jackson College’s Marketing and Communications department received national recognition last week from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations’ Paragon Awards competition.

The Paragon Awards recognize achievement in marketing, design and communication at community and technical colleges. This year’s Paragons competition drew nearly 1,650 entries in 53 categories.

“For our work to be recognized by NCMPR is both exciting and humbling. Not only is the competition of our peers, coming from two-year colleges and technical schools, but the selection is done by industry experts. Working in isolation, due to COVID-19, added and additional challenge this year. To say these projects were a team effort is an understatement!” commented Dotty Karkheck, department director.

  • The College’s Customer Service Manual received a Gold Paragon in the Booklet category, the highest honor given. Judges liked the fun, conversational and creative presentation of policy and procedures, something that isn’t an easy feat, they said.
  • The College’s application for the League of Innovation in the Community College received a Bronze Paragon in the Wild Card category.

Jackson College’s Marketing and Communications office is comprised of: Dotty Karkheck, director; Ashley Banks, web designer; Marilynn Fryer, writer; Miranda Penn, social media coordinator; and Abbie Stein, graphic designer.

NCMPR represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges across the country. It is an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
