Jackson Community Concert Band presents Soundtracks Spotlight

October 30, 2019

Jackson Community Concert Band will present its fall concert, “Soundtracks Spotlight,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center.

The band will present a variety of music from soundtracks and more, including “Video Games Live,” and the “Star Wars” Mega Medley. These will feature the College’s new choral group, Vocal Point and, on the Star Wars medley, Cosplay/Comicon entertainers Wesley and the Crushers. The idea behind this concert and multimedia extravaganza is to put the spotlight on music often in the background. From top soundtracks that are as well-known as the blockbuster movies they came from to dance music that people have kicked up their heels to for decades, music from the background often comes to the forefront! Rounding out the program will be the “Festive Dance from Faust,” “A Toonful Tune,” and “American Dances: Rag, Square and Swing.” Ron Douglass, retired conductor of the Community Concert Band, will guest conduct the “British Eighth March” and “Hoagy Carmichael in Concert.”

The band is comprised of college students and community members, under the direction of Conductor Dan Bickel. The concert is free and all are welcome.
