Law Enforcement Career Academy set for July 17-21
Are you interested in a law enforcement career? Learn more from those working in the field at the Jackson College Law Enforcement Career Academy, July 17-21 on Jackson College’s Central Campus.
Learn more about the career at this Academy, designed for individuals 17-21 interested in becoming a police officer, deputy sheriff or state police trooper. Explore what the day-to-day work through hands-on experience including moderate physical fitness, patrol activities, first aid and CPR training, defensive tactics and crime scene investigation. Sessions will run from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and will be hosted by Jackson College, Siena Heights University Criminal Justice Program, and the Michigan State Police. This is a free event that will include free lunch and a T-shirt.
Law enforcement officers – police and detectives – perform a variety of services to protect the public, maintain order and investigate crime. Demand for law enforcement officers is expected to grow about 3 percent in the coming years. Currently, the City of Jackson is offering a $10,000 hiring incentive.
