Men’s basketball battles in semi-final but falls to G.R.

The Jackson College Jets men’s basketball team battled in the semi-final game of the NJCAA Region 9 Tournament Thursday but fell to the Grand Rapids Raiders 98-88.
Grand Rapids took the lead right away and held it throughout the game. At halftime, the Jets were down 30-48. They came out strong in the second half and narrowed the lead to just 2 points at the 3: 17-minute mark, 78-80. However, they were unable to overtake Grand Rapids, with a final score of 98-88 as the buzzer rang.
High scorer for the Jets was guard Brandon Thomas with 22 points, followed closely by point guard Devaughn Munson with 20. All five of the Jets starters scored in the double digits: forward Karinn Davis Jr. had 14, guard/forward Jagger Surface scored 12, and guard/forward Michael Bruce scored 11.
The Jets end their season with an MCCAA Western Conference record of 11-7 and an overall record of 18-12.
