Michigan Shakespeare Festival

Message from Shakespeare Festival:

In March and again more recently in late April, we did a survey of our audience and supporters to gauge their interest in attending live performances this summer.

First, the wonderful news!  96% of respondents felt live theatre was important or very important to their lives and 99% said they’d be continuing their habits of seeing live theatre when it feels safe.  That’s excellent and we’ll be so glad to see you all again!!

However, that said, a sizable majority of respondents didn’t feel they would want to attend live indoor theatre before the end of this calendar year.  And we completely understand.

Due to the combination of these survey answers, and many other external factors, the Michigan Shakespeare Festival has made the difficult decision to remain dark for summer of 2021 – and spend the time preparing for a triumphant return of our MainStage Festival in summer of 2022, and our MiSFITs Touring Productions this upcoming Winter.

The safety of our audiences and our artists is the most important issue for us.

We look forward to being with you all again.

If you have tickets purchased for 2020 and rolled them over to 2021, you can roll them over to 2022, you can choose to donate the purchase price of the tickets, or we can set up a refund – please email gm@michiganshakespearefestival.com or call our office at 517.998.3673 and leave a message with your name and a return number where you can be reached.
