Step out for Starry, Starry Night and step up to help students

August 4, 2017

Enjoy a gala evening out and support students at Jackson College’s Eighth Annual Starry, Starry Night Gala – Our Time to Shine, on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 6-9 p.m. on Central Campus.

Allow us to share today’s Jackson College with you, along with some delicious cuisine! Guests will enjoy a strolling dinner, local entertainment by River Jazz and more at this exciting fundraising event. Start in the newly renovated Bert Walker Hall and see a virtual campus tour, and witness the creation of a painting done live by renowned artist Doug Jones, Jackson native. This emerging contemporary artist will complete the third panel of a triptych work based on the Glidden Parker Mural. Part of the new CP Federal City Square in downtown Jackson, the Glidden Parker Mural tells the history of electricity in Jackson. Jones has reimagined the history, adding a current context for the gala.

Launching a week before the event, a silent auction will be held for the three paintings and other prized items, including:

  • Disney Hopper Passes (4), Walt Disney World Resort, Central Florida
  • Shedd Aquarium Passes (4), Shedd Aquarium, Chicago
  • Beaver Island (Michigan) Cottage Get-Away
  • Fine Jewelry – garnet necklace with gemstone bracelet
  • To view more auction items or register, visit www.jccmi.edu/starrynight17.

Bids may be made online at https://starrynight.cbo.io. Bidding will open Aug. 12 and close at 8 p.m. Aug. 19, the evening of the Starry, Starry Night event. Bidders need not be present to win.

Support Jackson College students and see what is new! Cocktail hour and dinner begins at 6 p.m., and a welcome and program will begin at 8 p.m. in the Bert Walker Hall Community Rooms, 144 & 145. Individual tickets are $100; 50 percent of the ticket is a tax-deductible gift. Guests should don their finest cocktail wear.
