Home / Campus Life / Explore Campus / Buildings & Campus Spaces / Atkinson Hall William Atkinson Hall William Atkinson first came to Jackson Junior College as dean in 1940, and in 1942 was commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. In 1945 he resumed his duties at the junior college, and he became president of Jackson Junior College in 1953 and served until 1969. He oversaw the College through the campaign for community college status and subsequent construction of the new campus in its current location.
