Catch a glimpse of the Perseid Meteor Shower at Astronomical Observatory

Experience the wonder of the night sky during the annual Perseid Meteor Shower at Jackson College’s Astronomical Observatory! The College will host a special open viewing night on Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 10 p.m. to midnight, offering a unique opportunity to witness one of the most anticipated meteor showers of the year.

Those with their own telescopes are also welcome to bring them and set up outside the observatory—there is a designated area with piers specifically for telescope use. Bring a telescope and a lawn chair and enjoy the show!

The Perseid Meteor Shower is known for its bright, fast meteors and is typically one of the most active showers of the year, making it a favorite for amateur astronomers and sky watchers alike. Don’t miss this chance to explore the cosmos right from the Jackson College campus.

This event is free and open to the public. Weather permitting; please check the website before attending, www.jccmi.edu/astronomical-observatory/.
