Medical Assistant
Medical assistants are multi-skilled health care practitioners trained to work in the business and clinical parts of a medical office, clinic or hospital. They assist physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and optometrists in helping their offices run smoothly. They may take and record patient history and personal information, measure vital signs, help with examinations, schedule appointments, prepare blood for laboratory tests, or give patients injections as directed by the physician.

Get Started
Completion of a medical assistant certificate program and professional certification prepare students for entry-level positions. Completion of an associate degree will further career opportunities. Medical assistant classes foster educating students in all areas, preparing them with necessary skills and interpersonal savvy necessary in the health field where one is working with patients who may be sick or injured. Upon completion, the student becomes eligible for the AMT Medical Assistant Certification exam to become a Registered Medical Assistant. Jackson College’s program may be completed with as little as 10 months of class time. Students will complete a practicum experience with a licensed health care practitioner as part of their program.

Ranges from $20,600-$45,000.
Career Outlook
Employment of medical assistants is projected to grow 29 percent through 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. The growth of the aging Baby Boom population will continue to spur demand for preventive medical services, which are often provided by physicians.
Certification
Students who complete this program are eligible to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam through American Medical Technologists.
