Start by completing the FAFSA, then follow the necessary steps to review your eligibility, submit any required documents, and accept your aid. Apply for Admission Apply for Admission to Jackson College. 2. Complete FSA ID Complete a U.S. Department of Education FSA ID Registration if you do not have an FSA ID to use for your electronic signature. 3. Complete Your FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) The most important first step you should take when figuring out how to pay for college is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. This form will determine your eligibility for financial assistance like federal loans, grants, work-study benefits, and even some merit aid. The form can be completed online. Each year complete the FAFSA form as soon after October 1 as possible. JC’s Federal ID Code is 002274. Start your FAFSA 4. Submit Documents & Complete Verification Check your Jackson College student e-mail account for notifications about the required submission of forms. You can also monitor financial aid requirements in JetStream. Verification It is not unusual for additional information to be required in order to determine a student’s eligibility for aid. This process is known as verification. Students selected for verification will be required to submit documents and financial forms before aid can be processed or disbursed. A financial aid application cannot be considered until all documentation requirements are met. 5. Review Your Aid Awards & Accept/Decline Loans Once your financial aid is finalized, you will receive an electronic award letter via your JC email. All subsequent communications regarding your financial aid will be sent through your JetStream account and JC email. Monitor Your Financial Aid Status Monitor Your Status You are responsible for monitoring your status, including your academic progress required for federal financial aid. Check your admission, registration, and financial aid status on JetStream frequently and check for notifications on your Jackson College student e-mail account. Drops or Withdrawals Dropping or withdrawing from a class can result in aid adjustments prior to disbursement or the need to return aid funds after disbursement. Students are encouraged to talk with Financial Aid before deciding to drop or withdraw from a class.
