Financial Aid Refunds

Financial aid is used to pay for your tuition, fees, and, if applicable, on-campus living expenses.

  • Private and State Aid: These funds are applied to your account before the semester starts to cover your charges. State awards are applied directly to tuition and fees, so students should not expect a refund based on state aid. Changes to your registration could result in changes to your state aid. In some cases, this can happen after a refund is processed.
  • Federal Grant Aid: These funds are applied after the add/drop period for your classes, which is usually 8 days after each class begins.
  • Federal Loans: Federal loans are disbursed 30 days after a student’s sixth Title IV eligible credit hour has passed the add/drop period. Refunds from federal loans will then be issued based on any remaining credit balance.

Once the above criteria have been met and your account shows a negative balance due to disbursed aid (meaning you have extra funds not showing as anticipated in Jet Stream), the Business Office will process your refund within 10 business days.

If you paid by credit card, refunds will go back to your card. If you paid by cash or check, you will receive your refund as a direct deposit or check, depending on your payment method. Students can sign up for direct deposit in Jet Stream under Banking Information.
