Emergency Operations Plan

Jackson College’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) establishes a comprehensive framework to guide the College’s preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in the event of emergencies that may threaten the health, safety, or welfare of the campus community.

The EOP aims to protect lives, minimize damage to property, safeguard the environment, and ensure the continuity and rapid restoration of critical services. It aligns with local, state, and federal emergency management guidelines.

The plan applies to all Jackson College campuses, staff, faculty, students, and visitors. While elements can be adapted for off-site facilities, this EOP primarily addresses main campus operations.

All students, faculty, and staff are expected to familiarize themselves with emergency procedures during orientation and periodic training sessions. Regular drills and exercises ensure the plan remains effective and up to date.

  • Protect the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain essential services such as instruction, student support, and operations.
  • Communicate clearly and quickly through multiple channels.
  • Coordinate with local and state emergency partners.
  • Regularly review and test the plan to improve readiness.
  • Keep your emergency contact information up to date in JetStream.
  • Review basic emergency procedures provided at orientation.
  • Follow official college communications for instructions.

The EOP is consistent with local and state emergency plans and is subordinate to state or federal directives during officially declared disasters. The Incident Commander has discretion to adapt procedures to meet emergent needs.

The plan is a living document. It is regularly reviewed, tested, and updated to reflect lessons learned and changes in best practices, resources, or campus conditions.
