M.S., University of Michigan
Ph.D., University of Michigan

Dr. Steven Albee-Scott serves as the Wilbur L. Dungy Endowed Chair of the Sciences and Director of the Environmental Sciences Program at Jackson College. He teaches biology, environmental science, ecology, earth science, geology, and geography, and works to integrate research-based learning into undergraduate education.

His research focuses on evolutionary biology, fungal phylogeography, molecular ecology, and climate–ecology interactions. He developed the Secotioid Inertia model to explain evolutionary transitions in fungal morphology, contributing to broader discussions on constraint and adaptation in evolutionary systems. This work led to an invitation to present at the British Mycological Society at the Natural History Museum in London.

Before joining Jackson College, Dr. Albee-Scott served as a Research Scientist at Utah State University with a courtesy appointment in the Rocky Mountain Herbarium and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He has taught at the University of Michigan and has developed programs that connect secondary and postsecondary students to authentic laboratory research experiences.
