Dr. Sonja Howell brings expertise in instructional design, educational technology, and faculty development to Jackson College. She has experience across K–12, higher education, non-profit, and corporate settings, bringing a versatile lens to instructional strategy. At the Center for Innovation, she supports the creation of high-impact courses across all modalities. She leads initiatives that blend AI + EQ, integrating emerging technologies with emotional intelligence to foster deeper student engagement. Her work also includes faculty training, showcasing excellence in course design, and supporting program review through instructional alignment.

Sonja, alongside Brian Newberry, provides strategic leadership for instructional design and innovation at Jackson College, aligning teaching practices with accreditation standards and institutional goals. Their collaboration fosters a culture of continuous improvement, supports excellence in course quality, and empowers faculty to create transformative learning experiences that drive student success.
