At Jackson College, we offer a wide range of degrees and certificates designed to help you achieve your educational and career goals. The following options are available within this program.
Prepares students to become entry-level EMTs through hybrid training and hands-on emergency response simulation.
A direct pathway from the EMT-Basic Certificate to paramedic certification through a partnership with Emergent Health Partners.
Jackson College’s Emergency Medical Services program equips students with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to perform life-saving interventions in pre-hospital settings. Students will develop essential skills in patient assessment, trauma care, airway management, and emergency response techniques. The program prepares graduates for national certification and state licensure, with opportunities to specialize in various emergency medical fields. Coursework is delivered in a hybrid format, combining online instruction with hands-on practice in Jackson College’s state-of-the-art simulation lab and driving simulator.
Prepares students to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages. Covers emergency medical systems, trauma and medical emergencies, and patient transport.
Covers skills required to be a first responder at the scene of a medical emergency. Includes CPR, first aid, patient assessment, and trauma care.
Explores fundamental concepts of human biology including cell structure, body systems, genetics, health, and disease with an emphasis on real-world application.
Introduces the principles and techniques of electrocardiography. Students learn to record and interpret EKGs, focusing on safety, patient care, and rhythm analysis.
Students who earn the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certificate will be prepared for entry-level positions as emergency medical technicians, responding to 911 calls, providing first-line medical care, and transporting patients to medical facilities. This program prepares students for the National Registry EMT exam, a requirement for state licensure.
Jackson College also offers a paramedic pathway through a partnership with Emergent Health Partners. This pathway provides students with an opportunity to continue their education and training in paramedicine, leading to advanced career opportunities in emergency medical services.
Provides immediate care and transport for patients in emergency medical situations using basic life-saving procedures.
Delivers advanced life support, including airway management, IV therapy, and medication administration in critical emergencies.
Performs diagnostic tests to monitor heart activity and assist in detecting cardiac issues in clinical settings.
Supports nurses and physicians with patient care, including vital signs, procedures, and trauma support in hospital emergency departments.
