Home / Campus News / College inks agreement with Flight School of Jackson to offer clear path to associate degree
Aspiring pilots at the Flight School of Jackson can take their education to new heights with a new agreement that makes it easier than ever to earn an associate degree from Jackson College.
The partnership recognizes the quality aviation training provided by the Flight School of Jackson and creates a seamless pathway for students to earn college credit. Through this articulation agreement, students may transfer up to 46 credits to Jackson College. With the addition of just six general education courses, they can complete an Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Studies degree—saving time, money, and gaining a respected college credential.
The program is flexible as well; students may earn college credit for one or more completed flight certificates or written tests.
“This agreement offers an exciting opportunity for Jackson-area flight students to earn an associate degree from JC alongside their flight school training,” said JC Dean of Workforce, Technical and Professional Education, Jamie Vandenburgh. “It will help our two organizations produce more highly skilled, credentialed aviation professionals.”
Completing an associate degree can also expand students’ employment options and career prospects.
“This agreement is a win-win for everyone involved,” said Amber Collins, Director of Workforce Training. “We’re excited to offer this pathway to a college degree.”
