Turn over a new leaf for health this fall at HealthWise: Leaves of Wellness, a free community health and wellness event hosted by Jackson College on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Campus. Check-in will be in Justin Whiting Hall, with activities in both Justin Whiting Hall and the Health Laboratory Center.
HealthWise brings together health education, preventive screenings, and community resources to help individuals and families take an active role in their health and well-being. Participants can explore interactive health and wellness stations led by Jackson College health science students, Henry Ford Health staff, and community partners. Attendees will have opportunities to receive preventive health screenings, learn about important health topics, connect with local resources and discover simple ways to support their health throughout every season of life.
The Leaves of Wellness theme encourages participants to explore their health, know their numbers, grow their knowledge and connect with their community. By visiting the event’s various stations, participants can discover practical ways to build healthier habits, one leaf at a time.
In addition to screenings, HealthWise will feature:
“HealthWise makes it easy and convenient for people to take an active role in their health,” said Sarah Case, Simulation and Innovation Center coordinator and instructor. “Whether it’s receiving a quick screening, learning about wellness resources, or simply enjoying a walk on campus, there’s something for everyone.”
Some preventive screenings require advanced registration, while other activities and educational stations are available throughout the event.
Screenings marked with an asterisk require advance registration. To reserve a screening time, call 517.990.1374.
Leaves of Wellness HealthWise is free and open to the community.
