Jackson College will celebrate the completion of its new Jets Soccer Complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2026. Students, employees and community members are invited to attend the celebration, which will include a short program, ribbon-cutting, and light refreshments.
Located on the Northeast end of the Central Campus, near the baseball and softball fields, the new complex features a modern sports turf field, an accessible restroom and press box building, bleacher seating, a scoreboard, plenty of gathering space, and lighting for night games. The facility is visible from Emmons Road and Hague Avenue. Guests should park in lots O or P.
The project marks a significant step forward for Jackson College soccer, with the College’s first artificial turf field replacing the grass fields used previously. The new surface is better suited to Michigan weather and will provide an improved playing environment for Jackson College student-athletes while also creating opportunities for local soccer players and organizations.
The complex will support Jackson College’s men’s and women’s soccer programs and provide another high-quality campus resource for the broader community.
“This is the community’s college, and investments like this are about much more than athletics,” said Jackson College President Daniel J. Phelan. “They strengthen the student experience, build essential peer relationships, help students complete their course of study, create new opportunities for our community, as well as continue building a campus where people want to learn, compete, gather and belong.”
The Jets Soccer Complex is part of Jackson College’s continued investment in a vibrant, human-first, student-centered campus…one that supports student achievement, strengthens recruitment and creates spaces that serve the broader community.
Andrew Hosmer, Jackson College women’s soccer head coach, said the new complex will provide a more consistent and stable playing surface, helping extend the outdoor training and playing seasons for college athletes and local players. “Jackson College remains at the forefront of innovative solutions to the needs of this community, even beyond excellence in academics,” Hosmer said. “This latest athletic endeavor further expands the College’s ability to advance the youth of this generation. I’m especially thankful to President Dr. Dan Phelan for being so finely attuned to the cutting edge in academia while also promoting and supporting the athletic values so important to a well-rounded individual.”
“To be part of a growing college that is willing to invest in facilities and provide a world-class environment is very exciting,” said Todd Derby, Jackson College men’s soccer Head Coach. “Our new soccer stadium will be one of the best in our State. It is right here on our campus, and it will have lights, bleachers, a press box and team dugouts.” Derby noted that the complex will be an important recruiting asset for the College while also providing an additional resource for local soccer clubs, youth players and families.
The new facility reflects Jackson College’s continuing commitment to creating an outstanding experience for students while strengthening its connection to the communities it serves.
