Frequently Asked Questions

  • What certificates or degrees do you offer?

Currently, JCCEP offers five interrelated programs of study:

    • General Transfer Certificate
    • Certificate in Business Administration
    • Associate in Arts
    • Associate of Applied Science: Business Administration

We encourage students participating in the JCCEP program to work towards certificates and/or a degree instead of taking general interest courses. Many of the classes we offer (see below) satisfy the Michigan Transfer Agreement. This agreement facilitates seamless transfer of students and earned credits to public community colleges, four year colleges and universities in Michigan.

  • How do I know what to take?

JCCEP staff will help you set up an educational Pathway that fits your educational interests and goals. As you move forward with your education, JCCEP staff will provide you with degree audits to help you monitor your progress.

  • What classes do you offer?

The JCCEP program offers students an opportunity to enroll in a wide variety of college credit-bearing courses. All new students must enroll in FYS 110: Achieving Personal Success during their first semester. Most new students will be required to take ENG 131: Writing Experience as well. These two courses will prepare students for the rigors of an academic life, stressing life planning, reading, writing, and critical thinking.

Our current offerings (subject to change) include the following courses:

    • ACC 216: Financial Accounting Concepts
    • ART 112: Art History
    • BIO 140: Public Health and Disease
    • BUA 100: Contemporary Business
    • BUA 220: Principles of Management
    • BUA 230: Principles of Marketing
    • BUA 250: Business Law
    • COM 240: Interpersonal Communications
    • ENG 131: Writing Experience
    • ENG 201: Advanced Composition
    • ENG 232: Technical and Business Writing
    • ENG 247: Poetry and Drama
    • ENT 101: Introduction to Entrepreneurship
    • GEL 109: Earth Science
    • HIS 235: 20th Century History
    • HUM 131: Cultural Connections
    • MAT 135: Finite Math
    • PSY 140: Introduct ion to Psychology
    • SOC 231: Principles of Sociology

The courses we offer satisfy Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) requirements and Jackson College Associate Degree Outcomes, certificate, and degree requirements. Classes that satisfy the MTA transfer successfully and seamlessly to Michigan public community colleges and universities as well as most colleges and universities nation-wide.

  • How long does each semester last?

A semester typically lasts 12-15 weeks. Three credit courses meet for approximately 45 hours per semester and meet once a week. Four credit classes meet for approximately 60 hours per semester and meet twice a week. The required FYS 110 course meets for 15 hours, typically 3 hours per week for five weeks.

  • How do I fill out a Limited Power of Attorney form?

You will find the form here. Prospective students should write their names in both fields that say “Typed name of Applicant.” The students must also write in which county they are from. They must also write in the name of the sponsor(s) in the “Typed Name of Relative” filed and also note the county for the sponsor(s). Students must note on the last line what day they signed the document. They must sign their name and print their name out below the signature. They will need to have at least one person witness their signature on the document and sign one of the fields to the left of their signature.

Once completed, students should mail the form to the address below:

    Jackson College/JCCEP
    2111 Emmons Road
    Jackson, MI 49201
