DUAL ENROLLMENT Dual enrollment allows motivated high school students to enroll in both high school and college courses at the same time. Students may begin as early as their freshman year and continue through their senior year, earning college credits along the way. This option is especially beneficial for students who want to take advanced courses or subjects not available at their high school, while gaining early exposure to college-level expectations. HILLSDALE COUNTY EARLY MIDDLE COLLEGE (HCEMC) The Hillsdale County Early Middle College is a structured, three-year program located on the Hillsdale campus. Beginning in the 11th grade, students continue high school graduation requirements while simultaneously enrolling in college courses, with a “fifth” year of high school available free. Students can graduate with a high school diploma and up to 60 college credits, complete the Michigan Transfer Agreement, representing significant financial savings and a strong head start on a degree or career. HCEMC students receive comprehensive wraparound support designed to ensure success, including a First Year Seminar courses designed to boost college level readiness. Students also explorecareers to help find their future. CAREER AND TRANSFER ADVANTAGES Students enrolled in either dual enrollment or HCEMC are encouraged to participate in the Hillsdale Area Career Center (HACC). JC works closely with HACC to offer articulated credit, meaning students may earn college credit for coursework completed at HACC. While students do not need to be enrolled in dual enrollment or HCEMC to receive articulated credit, participating in both programs creates even greater educational and financial advantages.
