After facing a felony conviction, he spent nearly 20 years in prison. During that time, he worked hard to earn his GED and discovered college courses offered by Jackson College. In 2023, as the pandemic was winding down, Rosas chose to try something new. He decided to register for his first college classes. A new chapter began for him. Rosas, recently paroled, was proud to walk across the Potter Center stage at graduation this year, earning four associate degrees and a certificate in business, business management, public administration, and the arts. “After 20 years locked up, I’ve spent most of my life there as opposed to society. I’m just really picking up the pieces, trying to rebuild my whole life. I’m very encouraged, though; I never gave school the benefit of the doubt, but it felt good to get the experience and to graduate. I would love to further my education,” Rosas said.
