When you walk up the steps of Bert Walker Hall, you might spot Brittney Maske hard at work behind her desk. As the Corporate and Continuing Education Coordinator, Brittney is a powerhouse who helps keep Jackson College running smoothly.
For the past three and a half years, she has been the go-to person for workshop logistics, scheduling, ordering supplies and working with instructors, coordinating with security and facilities for event setups, non-credit classes and working with employers.
“I do a lot,” she said.
The Jackson native earned her bachelor’s degree from Baker College before coming to Jackson College where she later completed her Executive Assistant Certificate.
“After working here for about a year my role as a coordinator is very similar to a lot of assistant type things,” she said. “I saw the executive assistant certificate had an internship so I thought if I did that it would get my foot in the door.”
Her hard work has not gone unnoticed. Brittney was awarded the TCS2 award in recognition of her outstanding commitment to student success at Jackson College. It was a moment that caught her off guard.
“I was really shocked because a lot of the time it just feels like I’m doing my job,” she said. “It was really nice to feel like somebody noticed that that’s going above and beyond.”
Helping people is what drives Brittney every day.
“I like knowing that I’m helping them get to where they want to go even if it’s a little thing,” she said.
That mindset shines through in everything she does.
“With our department, we work with a different type of population than traditional students, so I always try to keep that in mind,” she said. “I’ve made directions for campus, where I take pictures of landmarks and draw arrows on it to help them figure out where buildings and classrooms are. I’m currently working with IT and admissions to try to make the non-credit registration process a lot simpler. So, just trying to mee the students where they’re at and make it a lot easier on them.”
Her experience has been both rewarding and inspiring.
“With Amber Collins and Jamie Vandenburgh for the past two years, it’s really changed a lot for the better. I’m excited to see where we keep going.”
Outside of work, Brittney enjoys reading and takes trips with her husband.
