At Jackson College, we offer a wide range of degrees and certificates designed to help you achieve your educational and career goals. The following options are available within this program.
Prepares students for electrical careers in residential, commercial, and industrial settings with hands-on training.
Offers foundational skills in electrical systems for entry-level positions or apprenticeship preparation.
Jackson College’s Electrician program provides students with hands-on training in electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Students will gain practical experience working with electrical circuits, wiring methods, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) while learning to apply industry standards and safety regulations. The program prepares graduates for a range of electrical careers in construction, manufacturing, and automation, with opportunities to pursue licensure and apprenticeship pathways.
Covers basic electrical theory and circuit analysis. Topics include voltage, current, resistance, Ohm’s Law, series and parallel circuits, and circuit troubleshooting.
Provides an in-depth study of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Students learn to interpret and apply NEC standards to various types of electrical installations.
Introduces solid-state electronics and components such as diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits. Emphasizes electronic circuits and their applications in modern technology.
Focuses on wiring methods and materials used in residential electrical systems. Includes blueprint reading, layout, and installation of electrical circuits in compliance with the NEC.
Students who ear the Electrician Certificate will be prepared for entry-level positions in electrical installation and maintenance. This certificate is ideal for individuals who want to quickly enter the workforce as residential or commercial electricians. Additionally, the certificate provides a solid foundation for those who wish to gain apprenticeship hours or continue toward an associate degree for further career advancement.
Students who earn the Electrician – Associate in Applied Science degree are prepared for a variety of advanced roles, including industrial electricians, electrical maintenance technicians, and automation specialists. With the increasing demand for skilled electricians in manufacturing, construction, and technology-driven industries, graduates will find numerous career opportunities. Additionally, students can continue their education through apprenticeship programs or further specialization in fields such as renewable energy and telecommunications.
