How We Can Help

The Student Resolution Advocate can:

  • Provide guidance while remaining neutral and focused on fairness
  • Help students understand college policies, processes, and their options
  • Talk through situations and help identify next steps
  • Connect students with the appropriate office or resource
  • Support students in navigating concerns or challenges
  • Help students understand and prepare for an appeal

When Should a Student Reach Out?

Students may benefit from connecting if they:

  • Are not sure where to go for help.
  • Feel stuck or overwhelmed by a situation.
  • Have a concern about a decision or process.
  • Want help understanding options before taking action.
  • Would like someone to walk through a situation with them.

What to Expect

When a student connects with the Student Resolution Advocate, they can expect:

  • A conversation to understand the situation
  • A review of relevant policies or processes
  • A discussion of possible options and next steps
  • The opportunity to decide how they would like to move forward

Our goal is to ensure students feel informed, supported, and heard throughout the process.cess.

Confidentiality & Role Clarity

The Student Resolution Advocate IS:

  • A confidential and informal resource (within legal and safety limits)
  • A neutral party who does not take sides
  • A guide to help students navigate processes and understand options

The Student Resolution Advocate IS NOT:

  • A replacement for formal college processes
  • The final decision-maker in appeal outcomes
  • An office that overrides college policies

Appeals Support

If a student is considering an appeal, the Student Resolution Advocate can help:

  • Explain the appeal process
  • Identify appropriate documentation
  • Guide where and how to submit
  • Answer questions throughout the process

Appeals remain a process the student chooses, with support available along the way.

Our Commitment to Students

In addition to helping individual students, the Student Resolution Advocate pays attention to recurring concerns. When patterns emerge, we work to clarify processes, reduce barriers, and improve the student experience.
