Explore Our Three Nursing Tracks at Jackson CollegeJackson College offers three distinct and highly competitive nursing tracks, each designed to prepare students for a successful career in healthcare. All tracks combine classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and clinical experiences in approved healthcare settings. Students begin by completing prerequisite courses in subjects like anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and psychology before applying to their chosen track.
Admission to all tracks is based on a point system and completion of prerequisites. Students are encouraged to work closely with a Student Success Navigator and apply within the published deadlines.
Introduces students to foundational nursing procedures, including hygiene, vital signs, patient transfers, and basic assessment techniques in a clinical lab setting.
Focuses on nursing care for adults experiencing common health problems. Emphasizes assessment, planning, and intervention in clinical and lab environments.
Provides a broad overview of basic nursing principles including communication, safety, patient care, and clinical reasoning, with accompanying hands-on lab experiences.
Examines the physiological basis of disease. Topics include altered health states, diagnostic processes, and how disease impacts body systems.
Students who earn the Practical Nursing Certificate will be prepared to provide direct nursing care under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensing examination required for licensure as a practical nurse (LPN). Career opportunities for LPNs include roles in hospitals, nursing homes, home health care, and outpatient clinics. The demand for practical nurses remains strong, particularly in long-term care and home health settings.
Students who complete the LPN to AAS program will also be eligible to apply for the NCLEX-RN licensing examination. This pathway is designed for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) seeking to advance their careers and become registered nurses (RNs). The program builds on the practical experience and knowledge of LPNs, preparing them for more advanced roles in various healthcare settings.
Students who earn the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing will be well-prepared for a range of career opportunities in the field of registered nursing. Graduates are eligible to apply for the NCLEX-RN licensing examination, which is required for licensure as a registered professional nurse (RN). Career options include roles in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health organizations.
