Home / Campus News / Three Dog Night to perform live in concert Nov. 9
You know their music — hits that have stood the test of time. Get ready for a night of classic rock when Three Dog Night comes to the Potter Center on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. Tickets are going fast!
Legendary band Three Dog Night boasts some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. From 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more Top 10 hits, sold more records, or drew larger concert crowds. Their songs remain woven into pop culture today — heard on the radio, in TV commercials, and in major motion pictures. Iconic hits like “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “Joy to the World,” “Black and White,” “Shambala,” and “One” continue to resonate with audiences across generations.
Holding a Billboard Magazine record for releasing 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including three No. 1 singles (“Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “Joy to the World,” and “Liar”), Three Dog Night earned seven platinum singles and 12 straight RIAA-certified Gold LPs. Their success spanned multiple genres — pop, rock, rhythm & blues, and country — and their music continues to sell worldwide in countries including Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, and Spain.
Formed in 1968 by Danny Hutton, Three Dog Night maintains a rigorous touring schedule of more than 90 shows a year, performing hit-filled concerts for multi-generational audiences. The band’s name originates from an Australian Aboriginal expression describing cold nights in the outback — the coldest being a “three dog night.”
Now celebrating over 50 years on the road, Three Dog Night continues to attract fans of all ages, performing at theaters, arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has played nearly 3,000 shows, including performances at two Super Bowls.
