Ice in the Universe with Rebecca Robinson

Dahlem is excited to be hosting Dr. Rebecca Robinson on Monday, March 16 at 7 p.m. to share her work and experience with Ice in the Universe in partnership with Jackson College.

Did you know that water ice exists far beyond Earth? Come learn about how scientists research Earth’s grand ice systems in Greenland and Iceland, then explore extra-terrestrial icy environments on other planets like Mars!

Dr. Rebecca Robinson — Michigan-born, Norwegian transplant, and heliophysicist — studies the Sun’s atmosphere and serves as Outreach Lead for NASA’s Multi-slit Solar Explorer (MUSE) team. From serving as the resident astrophysicist at Badlands National Park, to drilling ice cores on glaciers in Iceland, to sailing the coast of Norway studying the Sun and aurora activity — Dr. Robinson brings extraordinary real-world experience. She has also worked with the SETI Institute in California and analyzes advanced computer simulations of the Sun’s magnetic field.
