Prepares students for entry-level tech support roles or further study in computer-related fields.
Jackson College’s Computer Support Specialist program provides students with hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer systems. The curriculum covers key areas such as PC hardware and software repair, networking fundamentals, Linux administration, and cybersecurity principles. Students will develop the technical skills needed to provide IT support in a variety of professional settings, including businesses, schools, and government agencies. This certificate program also serves as a strong foundation for those looking to pursue additional certifications or an associate degree in computer support.
Focuses on the fundamentals of PC hardware. Topics include identifying, installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting computer hardware components. Prepares students for the hardware portion of the CompTIA A+ certification.
Provides students with hands-on experience using the Linux operating system. Covers file systems, users and groups, permissions, scripting, network services, and system administration.
Covers software and operating systems used in PC support. Topics include installation, configuration, diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Prepares students for the software portion of the CompTIA A+ certification.
Prepares students for network security fundamentals including risk management, access control, cryptography, disaster recovery, and compliance. Helps prepare for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam.
