The LPN to AAS-N degree at Jackson College is designed for licensed practical nurses (LPNs) who want to become Registered Nurses (RNs). The program builds on prior nursing experience through focused classroom instruction, labs, and clinicals. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing exam.

The following guide sheet lists the courses required for the Associate in Applied Science – LPN to AAS-n (Bridge Transition) degree. It serves as a comprehensive overview of the classes you’ll need to complete as part of the program, including prerequisites and core nursing courses.
Admission to the LPN to AAS-N program at Jackson College is competitive and requires careful planning. Below are the steps and specific requirements you must follow to be considered for entry into the program.
Submit a completed Jackson College application. Be sure to select Nursing – Associate in Applied Science as your program of study. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.
After applying, you will receive an email with further instructions, including how to schedule an appointment with a Student Success Navigator. During this appointment, you will:
As directed by your navigator, complete placement assessments in writing, reading, and math. These results will help determine your readiness for required coursework. Students with limited science backgrounds may need to take additional preparatory courses.
Send official transcripts from all previously attended colleges to the Jackson College Records Office. Use the National Student Clearinghouse for transcript requests.
It is your responsibility to confirm that transcripts have been received by the deadline.
To be eligible to apply, you must meet the following course requirements:
Only courses with final grades at the time of application will be used in the admissions point calculation. Students with no course withdrawals, repeats, or failures are more likely to be selected.
You must complete the following assessments by the application deadline:
Minimum composite score of 62% required. Two attempts allowed with a 30-day remediation period between them.
Must pass with a score of 78 or higher. Two attempts allowed. This exam is scheduled through the Jackson College Nursing Department on a pre-arranged date with faculty.
Attach a copy of your current, unencumbered Michigan LPN license and documentation of at least 1,000 work hours (on agency or HR letterhead) to your TNUR.AAS-N application.
Once you have completed the required coursework and Kaplan test, your Student Success Navigator will review your eligibility and assist you in completing the secondary LPN – AAS-N program application.
Important: Your navigator will electronically submit the signed application to the Nursing Coordinator’s Office. You and your navigator will receive a confirmation email once it has been submitted.
You must meet the Technical Standards for Admission as outlined in the nursing program packet. These include physical, cognitive, and behavioral abilities essential for safe and effective nursing practice.
